A 'tablet' is a handheld computer with a flat touch screen, very similar to the modern day smart phones, but larger in size. It is also known as a 'Tab' or a 'Pad'. Even though the term "tablet computer" was first used with the 'Microsoft Tablet PC' in 2001, Apple's launch of the "iPad" in April 2010 made the tablet computer a popular and much sought after device. Within 80 days of its launch, 3 million iPads were sold and, during the year 2010, Apple sold 14.8 million iPads through out the world.
